Meet the Dentists of Rifkin Dental

For 32 years, Rifkin Dental has served the Carmel and Yorktown Heights communities with an eye toward exceptional customer service.

The practice started out as a one-man show founded by Dr. Richard Rifkin. Since its founding, Rifkin Dental has grown into the bustling operation that clients know today. The practice now offers two convenient locations and is staffed by a team of 15 friendly and talented dentists, hygienists, and administrators.

We at Rifkin Dental believe in the importance of developing real relationships with our patients. At our practice, patients can rest assured we view them as names, not numbers. Because relationships are a two-way street, we think it’s important that our patients get to know us just as we endeavor to know them. In that spirit, we’re pleased to offer these introductions to the talented dentists at Rifkin Dental.

Dr. Richard Rifkin, DMD, MAGD

After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Richard Rifkin set out to start his own practice north of New York City. This practice would gradually become what Rifkin Dental is today.

Dr. Rifkin’s ability to grow his practice is enabled by the thousands of hours he has devoted to continuing education. This commitment has earned him a number of accolades. He has earned the Academy of General Dentistry’s Mastership Award and is a member of the American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. His awards and affiliations speak to Dr. Rifkin’s constant willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty when caring for his patients.

In his free time, Dr. Rifkin enjoys playing tennis, skiing, and other forms of exercise.

Dr. James Martyniak, DDS

Dr. Martyniak joined the team at Rifkin Dental in 2004. Before joining the practice, he completed his schooling at the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Dentistry. He then completed his residency at Montefiore Medical Center, where he now serves as an attending instructor.

Like both Drs. Rifkin, Dr. Martyniak is strongly committed to ongoing education. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and the New York State Dental Association. He has earned his Fellowship in the International Congress of Implantologists along with his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. In the future, he plans to join Dr. Richard Rifkin in earning the Mastership Award from the Academy of General Dentistry.

In his free time, Dr. Martyniak enjoys staying fit at the gym.

Dr. Allison Rifkin, DMD

The last name is no coincidence: Dr. Allison Rifkin is the daughter of Dr. Richard Rifkin, who helped inspire her interest in dentistry from a young age. She’s also the latest dentist to join the team at Rifkin Dental.

After completing her undergraduate degree, Dr. Rifkin went straight into dental school at Boston University. She then completed her residency at Montefiore Medical Center, of which Dr. Martyniak had spoken very highly. After completing her residency, she joined the practice at Rifkin Dental.

In true Rifkin Dental fashion, Dr. Rifkin is strongly committed to ongoing education. She is a member of the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry, where she is working toward becoming a fellow. She is also committed to community service. She performed pro bono work at community health centers during her schooling and is taking continuing education courses to master different techniques for restoring the mouth in severely traumatized situations.

In her free time, Dr. Rifkin likes to ski and golf. She hopes to learn how to watercolor in the near future.

The dentists at Rifkin Dental may hail from different backgrounds and different generations, but they all share at least two things in common: They’re committed to possessing the most up-to-date dental knowledge possible. And they’re equally invested in delivering exceptional service to the members of our community.
